Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant of Marshall Medical Clinics works with providers and staff to ensure effective medical care is delivered to all patients in a timely, dignified, and caring manner.  This position maintains the continuity of patient care in order to ensure the utmost patient satisfaction.   The Medical Assistant will prepare patients for their examination/visit and assist the providers as needed; completes medication refills, lab result follow ups, referrals to specialists, patient callbacks, orders medical supplies, and cleans/sterilizes medical equipment and exam rooms.  Medical Assistants of Marshall Medical Center will be expected to float to other clinics when needed and perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals and achievements of all Marshall Medical Clinics.  

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS 

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • To qualify for Medical Assistant 2:  Current Medical Assistant (MA) certification from the California Certified Medical Assistant Board (CCMA) or the National American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) required or an approved certifying body required.

Knowledge:

  • Previous experience with injections, EKG’s, medication administration and/or taking vital signs required. 

  • Basic computer/data entry and electronic medical record (EMR) experience required.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, patient/family health education required.

Skills:

  • Accurate and clear clinical documentation in Electronic Medical Record.

  • Excels in verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to reprioritize work demands as needed.

  • Possesses a pleasant and friendly demeanor and ability to maintain a positive and team oriented attitude.

  • Comfortable with regularly verifying and processing insurance eligibility and obtaining authorization requests, including verifying personal credentials with external partners to obtain this information (e.g., ID.me for identity verification for VA insurance coordination).
