GENERAL SUMMARY

$500 Sign on Bonus

MA will float between both the Woodmen and Union office (20 minute drive)

The Medical Assistant (MA) support the delivery of urological services, performs work as required and functions as an effective member of the interdisciplinary team. The Medical Assistant II is tasked to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical offices running smoothly. This position collaborates/work with staff within their practice or other professional disciplines within the affiliated medical groups as needed to achieve effective and efficient patient care delivery and the desired patient outcomes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES

• The MA will perform various administrative and clinical duties under the direction of their assigned direct supervisor. • The MA will consistently confer with physicians, nursing, and other staff members to coordinate and schedule appointments of patients. • Greets and prepare patients.

• Performs the following clinical duties as necessary: o Measures and records vital signs o Records patient interview, history, and chief complaint o Provides patient education with regards to medications, management of diseases, home treatments and special diets o Prepares patients for examinations and performs routing screening tests o Assists physicians with exams

o Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens o Performs basic lab test o Performs EKG’s o Assists with X-ray and physician therapy procedures o Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization

o Change dressings, applies bandages, removes sutures and other first aid procedures o Uses CPR skills when necessary o Prepares accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times

• Assist in maintaining patient logs for the following: o Lab requests, CT scans and other treatment orders for the patients o Prescription ledger when needed

• Maintaining the back office with good flow o Keeping rooms full o Assist with room turnover

oNew patient thorough work-up (x-rays, vitals, new patient packet explanation)

o Adding medical history on all new patients and update all established patients’ history in accurately.

o Accurate and complete room set-up for physician o Ensures that all patients medication is updated before physician visit.

• Set-up for in office Surgical procedures

o Appropriate consent completed correctly avoiding the use of too many medical abbreviations within the consent forms o Room set-up complete

• Scribe as assigned per physician office flow

• Preparation for seeing patients the following day o Patient confirmations for following day

• Completes patient medical record requests when necessary

• Assists in the orientation and training of new personnel.

• Assist with other administrative projects and tasks as needed

. • Ensures proper hand off of responsibilities once their task is completed

• Meets established attendance criteria and starts work promptly. Punctual and dependable for assigned/confirmed shifts

• Respects and acknowledges the organizations commitment to cultural diversity, which is expressed through behavior, language and actions.

• Consistently demonstrates good use of time and resources.

• Adherence to HR, & Corporate policies and procedures.

• Ensuring that all medical records are accurate and complete for all patients.

• Ensuring compliance of healthcare regulations, medical laws and high ethical standards.

• Regularly adheres and supports compliance and accreditation efforts as assigned including, but not limited to OSHA, HIPAA & CMS guidelines for Parts C & D on General Compliance and Fraud, Waste & Abuse.

• Performs other position related duties as assigned

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS Medical Assistant Certification or Registration KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES

• Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to perform well in stressful situations.

• Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR, Practice Management o Solutions.

• Communication skills and customer service oriented. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.

• Project Management

• Vendor relations (for those MA’s that are required to order office and clinical supplies)

• Database management

• Strong problem-solving skills

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 6 months experience working within a physician’s office desired.

Urology experience desired
